Welcome
Welcome to the Vitaminder website! My name is Ron van den Dungen. Here, I'd like to share with you how I came to delve into vitamin D and A and what motivates me to share that knowledge. I'll also describe the dangers inherent in using vitamin A and D.
Perhaps the biggest challenge in absorbing the information on this site is letting go of old ideas, and accepting that things can be different than they seem or as we've been told. Are you open to insights that contradict prevailing views, but are well-founded with logic and science? Then read on.
In 2007, I was looking for answers to questions my father had about the treatment of his disease. I did so with the logic and mindset of an engineer. As an electronics engineer and IT architect, I'm used to analyzing complex systems. This led me to Prof. Dr. Trevor Marshall (PhD), his molecular research, and his insights into the effects of vitamin D. Could vitamin D really be “the biggest mistake Medicine has ever made,” as he wrote? And could an excess of vitamin D actually hinder my father's recovery?
Own research
I decided to do my own research. After combing through all the scientific publications I could lay my hands on, I could only conclude that they all supported Marshall's position. Seeing his presentation to the FDA contributed to me joining his non-profit organization in 2008. I was co-founder and vice-chair (2010-2015) of its European sister organization, which regularly organized international meetings.
My interest in vitamin D was rekindled in 2009 when my then three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a genetic dental condition. The vitamin D level in her body was so high that there must have been a poisoning, which meant her tooth enamel had not formed properly.
Inextricably linked
It dawned on me how dangerous vitamin D really was and how easily it can disrupt our genetics. In 2023, I came across information about vitamin A. And guess what? Vitamin A is dangerous in a similar way! The parallels and similarities with vitamin D were astonishing. Vitamins A and D even disrupt each other's processes!
In 2024, I delved even deeper into this subject, read hundreds of papers, corresponded with scientists about their research, and built this website. The inextricable link between vitamin A and vitamin D and its fundamental consequences have led my website to focus on these two substances, whose toxicity was already observed and documented in scientific reports in the 1920s.
The good news is that we can improve our system in a surprisingly simple way to stay healthy longer.
Want to learn more about how you can gain insight into your body's vitamin A and D status and what you can do to bring them to healthy levels? Then take a look here. Curious about the backstory? Then read on about A and D.
